Area: .

Originally a busy fishing port, Fleetwood is now a relatively quiet seaside resort. Marine beach boasts a large range of conditions for kite surfing. An incoming tide provides flat water riding, then at high tide,if the wind is strong, the wave riders among you can get your kicks on some big waves. As the tide retreats, freestylers will once again enjoy butter flat conditions.

Fleetwood is also a great area for kite buggying, land boarding and recreational flying.

Wind Directions

Marine Beach will work on anything from W around to ENE. The best direction is NW.

Neighbouring beaches West Point, Cleveleys and Rossall all work on S around to NW.

Tide States

Fleetwood can be ridden at any tide state

Riding Types

Mid to low tides provide flat water for freestyle/wakestyle

With strong winds, high tide can provide good sized waves for waveriders

Local Information

When the tide is out, you can ride the 2 mile long Fleetwood Channel. This can be ridden on Westerly and Easterly winds.

Fleetwood kitesurfers are lucky enough not to have any restrictions on their beach, but their aim, along with the help of Fleetwood Kite Club, is to promote safer beaches. With this in mind they request that their club members carry BKSA insurance.

  • Large, free carpark right in front of the beach, with overnight stays allowed
  • Fleetwood Kite Club is based directly on the beach front with changing facilities, showers, lockers, toilets and a club room to brew up and meet the locals
  • Good local shopping at Freeport Shopping Area
  • Many pubs, shops and hotels opposite the beach

Marine Beach has a quite strong tidal pull on a incoming tide, with the occasional breakwater but the main part of the beach is clear from hazards.
