About Kitesurfing UK

Gareth Hanson from Kitesurfing UKHi, thanks for visiting Kitesurfing UK. My name is Gareth Hanson. I started kitesurfing back in 2010 and it quickly developed into a passion which has taken over my life (sound familiar?).

Being a mountain biker, snowboarder and climber I’m used to traveling to get my kicks. So if the wind is in the wrong direction for my local beaches, I’m quite happy to spend 3-4 hours in the car if it means I’ll get a shred-fix.

In recent years I’ve also become a fan of holidaying in the UK, and for the last few years it’s been Cornwall. You can probably see where I’m going with this…

I found that every time I wanted to visit a kite beach for the first time I would have to spend a good hour (or more) scouring Google for info like wind directions, hazards, where to park, how to get there, etc. Yes there are forums, and there are dedicated kite beach sites, but none of them seem to provide a really comprehensive guide to UK beaches. Plus, many of them have patchy, incomplete information.

I decided to embark on creating a really useful resource for anyone in the UK looking to try a different UK kite beach, or for overseas kitesurfers planning a trip to the UK or moving here.

In March 2016 I revamped the site from the ground up and plan to seriously bump up the number of guides on the site throughout the year.

If you would like to help me to write a piece about your local kite beach, submit a beach guide here. I’d very much appreciate it.

See you on the water,
