Area: Kitesurfing in Wales.
Though it is flanked by industry, with docks and a steel works, Aberavon is arguably the most popular kite beach in South Wales. It features a huge, sandy beach backed by sand dunes.
Aberavon will work on anything from SSE around to NW, though cross-shore winds can be gusty. Works best in a SW.
We're not sure about the tide states at Aberavon, if anyone could help us out we'd be grateful.
Aberavon picks up its fair share of swell. The western end has some flatter sections. Expect a mixed bag.
Kite surfers must stick to the allocated kite zone. This is in front of the sand dunes. Strictly no riding in front of the promenade.
- Car parking overlooking the beach
- Cafe and chip shop on the promenade
- The public.
- Aberavon is a popular dog walking spot.
- The bucket and spade brigade in the summer months
- The water quality can be a be iffy / silty
